A large manufacturing company needed a system that integrated its corporate orders
with multiple legacy systems and a nationwide distribution center network. The
client hired DBI to help analyze, architect, design and develop a new Java-based
system. Among the tools and methods DBI used to successfully complete this
project were use cases, class diagrams, interaction diagrams and collaboration
diagrams using UML, Rational Rose and established OO design patterns.
The new system allowed the client to convert from an HP 3000 platform to a new
distributed system, reducing processing costs by an estimated $3-4 million annually.
